SOCIO-PSYCHOLOGY AND CONSUMER BEHAVIOUR

According to some definitions, consumer behavior is defined as "the mental and social cycles individuals go through in the purchase, use, and disposal of products." Customers buy things to accomplish a certain aim. Desired results that are regarded to be feasible are called objectives. Customers purchase products just to use the capacity that they should fulfil in a narrow utilitarian sense. Customers, on the other hand, purchase most products not just for their utility but also to communicate something about themselves to others; they serve as an identity function.

A product's overwhelming prominence may be attributable to its brand. The brand image reflects the convictions and evaluations connected with a brand name. This picture includes the "brand personality," which is a combination of human characteristics that people connect with a business. This brand personality attributes mirror the stereotyped picture of the average brand customer, which is shaped by advertising and our experiences with brand users. These archetypal pictures serve as symbols or expressions of admiration.

What makes social psychology such a vital discipline? Substance misuse, crime, discrimination, domestic violence, public health, bullying, and hostility are all topics that social psychologists study because they have a substantial influence on both individual and societal health.

Even though social psychologists seldom work directly in the field of mental health, their findings have an impact on how mental health specialists address socially influenced behaviors. Public health campaigns, for example, frequently use persuasion strategies established by social psychologists to encourage individuals to adopt good behaviors while avoiding potentially risky ones.

Social settings greatly impact a person's sentiments and ideas, and one is continually trying to fit in with the social conditions at hand. People from the same socioeconomic class tend to have similar attitudes, comparable likes in fashion and food, shop from the same kind of businesses and congregate in the same areas. Individual behavior, influences, and decisions in many social contexts are now the focus of social psychology. Social psychology can be used to better understand people's thoughts, physical and mental health, and personal and professional relationships. In the same way, marketers use socio psychology to better understand consumers' thoughts, feelings, reasoning, and decision-making processes, which helps them achieve their goal of persuading people to buy their products.

Understanding social psychology allows one to better understand the behavior of consumers, business partners, and even employees, which aids in better management and business development, and extension.
